our story

15+ years decoding human’s health

Base4 was founded with the ambition to rethink how human health is understood before disease appears.

The company emerged as a side project from the Institut de Recerca Sant Pau, built on more than a decade of research in genomics, transcriptomics and molecular biology applied to preventive medicine.

BASE4 was created in response to a long-standing gap in biomedical research, where women have historically been underrepresented in clinical studies and many health models have been built primarily around male biological data. The company aims to help close this gap by developing sex-specific biological models that better reflect hormonal, reproductive and molecular differences.
